Geoff Peel

Born: Birmingham, England

First guitar: A ‘Top Ten’ acoustic bought second-hand.

Previous history:
1971 Country Connection
1977 The Cadets
1978/79 The Mice (Single ‘A Song For Europe’ on Charlie Records)
1981 The Mississippi Sheiks
1984/90 Curly Maple & the Flametops
1990/95 The Diplomatics (Album ‘Shotgun Blues’)

Inspirations:
The impetus to start playing was given by hearing Eric Clapton on the Bluesbreakers ‘Beano’ album. Later, it was hearing Jimmie Vaughan, particularly on the Fabulous Thunderbirds’ first two albums. More recently, the jazz-blues guitar of Grant Green and Herb Ellis and the west coast swing of Junior Watson, Alex Schultz and Charlie Baty have provided some serious inspiration. Brother Frank Peel, who lives in Houston Texas, also plays guitar and has often provided a beacon back to the world of real R’n’B.

Ambition:
To play rockin’ blues and jazz until the big man calls.
